Hightower's Welding and Machine Shop began when father and son, Harold E. Hightower and Harold D. Hightower left their jobs at the Denmark sawmill to start their own shop servicing saw mill equipment. The business opened in 1961 in Denmark, SC, and soon expanded to include other welding and machine jobs besides saw mill equipment. These men were well-known in their community for their expertise and for their ingenious ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve. We always say, "It runs in the blood." Keep reading!

In 1983, the shop relocated to its current location in North Augusta, SC, offering its services to the CSRA. It was about that time that Harold Delk's sons, Gene and Jerry, began working in the shop in the trade that had been taught to them by their father. Gene and Jerry, too, possess this gift for expertise, trouble-shooting and problem solving. Also in 1983, their mother, Mary, began her career as office manager. Her sweet spirit is there to greet you almost any day you enter our doors.

With the death of Harold Delk in 1990, the ownership passed to Mary, Gene and Jerry as it exists today. Sara (sister) joined the office staff in 2010 when she came back to us from 13 years in Indiana. Kathy (sister) has worked part-time in the office and assists with computer issues. It truly is a famiy business!
